The Community Health Aide Program Certification Board Standards & Procedures (S&P) is the guiding document for Health Aide certification, practice, training, and program oversight in Alaska. 

Guiding Document

The Community Health Aide Program Certification Board Standards and Procedures (S&P) is the foundational document that governs all aspects of CHAPCB’s work. It outlines training requirements, certification pathways, and scope of practice. This document ensures consistency, accountability, and quality across all certified programs and providers. 

For historical reasons, the term “community health aides” encompasses a range of health aide disciplines and levels of practice. 

The CHAPCB S&P serve as the guiding program and certification document and describes the:

  • Scope of practice
  • Qualifications for certification
  • Requirements for training and supervision
  • Requirements for training centers
  • Suspension and appeals processes
  • Board procedures

June 2026 – CHAPCB Standards and Procedures

During the Community Health Aide Program Certification Board (CHAPCB) meeting on June 10-11, 2026, the following amendments were made to the CHAPCB Standards and Procedures. Notice of Amendments to Requirements for Community Health Aide Re-Entry

The Community Health Aide Program Certification Board (CHAPCB) has an established process for receiving and considering proposed amendments to the Standards and Procedures (S&P). Through the work of the Alaska Association of CHAP Directors, Academic Review Committee, and CHAP Training Center Managers, the CHAPCB received proposals to amend S&P Section C1.30.200.
