Chapter D1 – Article 40. Multiple Simultaneous Employers and Change of Employer

Sec. D1.40.100. Multiple Simultaneous Employers.

If a DHA chooses to work for multiple THOs, they must submit an application to the board for certification at each THO for which they work.

  1. Initial Application with a Secondary Employer. After a DHA holds a current DHA certificate associated with one employer, they can apply for a certification from a different employer if they:
    1. meet the requirements of D1.20.100 [DHA General Requirements].
    2. provide evidence satisfactory to the Board that the applicant continues to demonstrate the practical professional competencies required for the level of certification sought. For all levels of DHA, at the new THO, under direct supervision of an appropriate supervisor as defined in D2.10.100 [supervision of DHAs] complete (A) or (B) below:
      1. 80 hours of direct supervision and demonstration of competence at least once in each procedure listed in the “Competencies” sections for which they are seeking certification; or
      2. demonstrate competence 8 times for each procedure listed in the “Competencies” sections for which they are seeking recertification; and
    3. furnish evidence satisfactory to the board that the applicant has not had an extended clinical absence between the date of issuance of their last certification and the current application, or, if there has been an extended clinical absence, has met the requirements in D1.30.200 [DHA re-entry].
  2. Recertification with Multiple Employers. If a DHA is seeking recertification for multiple THO’s simultaneously, they must submit recertification applications for each THO for which they work, meeting the requirements of Sec. D1.20.100 [DHA Recertification]. The direct supervision requirement in sec D1.30.100(c) [DHA Recertification] can be completed by an appropriate supervisor as defined in D2.10.100 [supervision of DHAs] at any of the THO’s they currently have an active certification with.
  3. Date of Expiration. Expiration dates for all certifications held simultaneously for multiple employers will expire on the same date, two years from the last day of the month following the month in which the board took final action to approve the earliest of the simultaneous certifications.

Sec. D1.40.200 Change of Employer.

If a DHA chooses to change employers, they must submit an application to the board for certification with the new THO showing that they meet all the requirements below:

  1. meet the requirements of D1.20.100 [DHA General Requirements]
  2. provide evidence satisfactory to the Board that the applicant has met the continuing education requirements of chapter D-3 [DHA continuing education];
  3. provide evidence satisfactory to the Board that the applicant continues to demonstrate the practical professional competencies required for the level of certification sought. For all levels of DHA, at the new THO, under direct supervision of an appropriate supervisor as defined in D2.10.100 [supervision of DHAs] complete (1) or (2) below:
    1. 80 hours of direct supervision and demonstration of competence at least once in each procedure listed in the “Competencies” sections for which they are seeking certification; or
    2. demonstrate competence 8 times for each procedure listed in the “Competencies” sections for which they are seeking recertification; and
