April 17th, 2026 by Kyle von Bose

We are excited to announce a new continuing education course developed by the Distance Learning Network (DLN) and CHS Wellness and Prevention. The CE is available in the DLN learning management system.

Cancer Education – Foundations for Community Health Aides (1 CE)

This course is designed to provide Community Health Aides with an understanding of the cancer continuum, with a specific focus on prevention and screening. This course explores key statistics regarding cancer in Alaska Native communities, identifies common risk and protective factors, and details the specific screening guidelines for the most frequently diagnosed cancers, including lung, colorectal, breast, cervical, and prostate cancer.

Community Health Aides are essential members of the early care team and are uniquely positioned to provide the awareness and education necessary to lower cancer risk. By completing this course, you will be better equipped to recognize early symptoms, support vaccination efforts, and provide compassionate care to patients through every stage—from initial screening to treatment and survivorship.

📢 Please spread the word to the Health Aide community!

Thank you,
