AMERICAN LUNG ASSOCIATION OF ALASKA
The ALAA has two events scheduled for this summer. The Asthma Educator Institute scheduled for June 5-6 will enable all levels of healthcare professionals to increase the quality of care and education that they deliver to their asthma patients and can prepare them to become nationally certified. The ALAA has some funding available to assist with lodging and transportation.
The ALAA is also coordinating two camps for youth with asthma and statewide round-trip transportation is provided. Champ Camp for youth ages 7-12 is located at Camp Carlquist in Chugiak and Limitless Adventures for youth ages 13-17 is located at the Eagle Valley Center in Juneau. This is an excellent opportunity for youth to learn how to better self-manage their asthma while being active outdoors. More information is available by visiting their website at http://www.aklung.org.
