Committees

Statewide CHAP has several committees that were formed to keep Community Health Aides/ Practitioners health care standards current and relevant.

Academic Review Committee

The Academic Review Committee (ARC) is a subcommittee of the Association of Alaska CHAP Directors (AACHAPD). ARC is a statewide group representing training center instructors, field supervisors, CHPs and the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. ARC develops and reviews all aspects of CHA/P training including course curriculum, evaluation tools, continuing education standards, and the CHA credentialing and CHP re-credentialing processes and forms.

Review and Approval Committee

The Review and Approval Committee (RAC) is a subcommittee of the Association of Alaska CHAP Directors (AACHAPD). RAC maintains standards and evaluation tools for the review of the CHA training centers. RAC is a statewide group composed of members from each CHA training center, field supervisors, CHAP directors, and CHPs. Annual reports and five-year on-site reviews are part of its tasks to ensure adherence to the CHAP Certification Board’s standards and procedures. RAC’s goal is to ensure that CHA training centers achieve and maintain minimum standards for training. The primary responsibility of the RAC is to attest to the educational quality of certified training centers.

Association of Alaska Community Health Aide Program Directors

CHAP Directors are the official forum on Community Health Aide activities. They advise the  Certification Board (CHAPCB), Alaska Tribal Health Directors, State of Alaska, and other entities on matters related to Community Health Aides/Practitioner. CHAP Directors identify issues affecting the role of Health Aides and prioritize initiatives for resolution to achieve administrative and clinical best practices. They also ensure continuity and coordination of programs statewide through policy/procedure, standardized guidelines, and advocacy.
