CHAP Training Centers
With training centers in Anchorage, Bethel, Nome and Sitka, over 550 Community Health Aides and Health Aide Practitioners from around the State receive 1:1 student faculty ratio in basic training as well as a variety of other continuing medical education offerings. Working in conjunction with the University of Alaska - Fairbanks, College of Rural and Community Development, these village based medical providers also earn college credits for class time. A well defined variety of distance delivered subjects are available to round out the CHA/P's education.
CHA/Ps from around the state have used this unique system in order to prepare for higher education programs such as the University of Washington's MEDEX Northwest Physician Assistant Program. The Community Health Aide Program model is currently being used as a template in the areas of dental care, behavioral health and elder care.
